Wide Open Spaces

When people think of cowboys, the usually think “out West.” But Florida was home to some of the first cowboys in the United States. If you’re looking for more land to own a horse, ranching or farming, you’ll find it in one of these areas.

Buckingham

Owners in this rural community preserve area are mandated to have 1 acre or more per home. Here you’ll find neighborhoods with oversized yards to large tracts of land for ranching and farming. Also home to the US Army Gunnery School during World War II.

Alva

Alva encompasses both sides of the Caloosahatchee River from approximately Buckingham Rd to Hendry County. Here you’ll find road side farm stands, working orange groves and cattle ranches. Also, some of the last remaining vacant waterfront in Lee County.

Palomino/Briarcliff

Tucked away in South Fort Myers, you’ll find two hidden gems – Palomino & Briarcliff. Both areas of estate size home sites with plenty of room for horses and close to all the amenities.

North Fort Myers

From I-75 East, you’ll find everything from neighborhoods with oversized yards to waterfront homes to rodeo arenas. It’s got a little bit of everything a cowboy would need.
