The Heart of Lee County

Steeped in history, what is know today as Central Fort Myers, is quite a large area. All the way from Downtown on the banks of the Caloosahatchee River to the banks of Fort Myers Beach & Sanibel Islands, inland from McGregor Blvd to I-75.

River District

The River District offers a mix of history, charm & modern touches. The downtown area has seen a major revitalization in recent years. Lots of shopping, restaurants, and regularly scheduled activities make this the place to be.


Iona

Follow the river S along McGregor Blvd, and you’ll come to Iona. This part of town really combines two of the things that making living in SWFL so great; water and golf. Easy access to beaches and all of Lee County make this a popular choice among many home buyers.


South Fort Myers

This area of Fort Myers continues to be one of the busiest sections of town. A large portion of the commercial “population” is located in S Fort Myers, with a mix of homes and condos. If you’re looking for convenience, this is it.


East Fort Myers

As you head East, you’ll start to see the landscape change from older homes built in the 60’s to new developments with all the amenities, to a more suburban setting. It offers some old and new and everything in between.

Home prices and sizes vary greatly depending depending on the area and individual neighborhoods.

Schools

Public schools in Lee County are assigned on an open-enrollment basis. Meaning parents rank a variety of schools close to where you live.

You’ll also find Florida Southwestern University located here.

Central Fort Myers is where you will find the majority of dining, entertainment, and shopping that Lee County has to offer.

Commute

The most centrally located, all areas of SWFL are easily accessible in a 20-35 minute car ride. Some sections offer more biking or walking abilities than others.
